With 32 000 students and 12 faculties, the UPEC is the largest multidisciplinary and vocational university within Ile de France. Founded in 1970, it quickly developed around its 12 UFRs (teaching and research units) and institutes, spread over five towns (mainly Créteil) of Ile-de-France region, in the counties of Val-de-Marne and Seine-et-Marne. 

The university has successfully united a range of disciplines which offer an exceptional program of education (ranging from technology diplomas to doctorates) and houses 31 laboratories covering almost every available field. 

In 2007, the university decame a member of the “Université Paris-Est” Higher Education and Research Cluster, along with Paris Est Marne la Vallée University, the ENPC (School of Civil Engineering), the LCPC (Civil Engineering Central Laboratory) and ESIEE-Paris (engineering school). This means that these establishments combine forces mainly in the area of research and doctoral schools. 

URC Eco is a publicly-funded research and knowledge unit that is part of the AP-HP consortium, the largest teaching hospital system in Europe. URC Eco’s primary mission is to inform the decision-making process of stakeholders in the health care system, including policy makers, institutions and professionals in the areas of health economics, health services research and health policy analysis. To that end, URC Eco carries out research at the local, national and international levels with a focus on the assessment of diagnostic, therapeutic and organizational innovation, the supply of health care (costs, pricing, organization, quality, efficiency and resource allocation methods), the health care process (doctor-patient interaction, determinants of health services utilization) and health care policy (legislation, regulation, financing and insurance).
