BA (Hons), BA (Hons) / BSc (Hons)

Oxford Brookes University offers one of the very best and most interesting Undergraduate Fine Art BA programmes in the country. Our course enables students to develop and produce challenging contemporary artworks that often emphasise audience and context, and investigate the role of the artist in the 21st century. BA (Hons)

This course is aimed at students who wish to enter the marketplace as illustrators specialising in narrative and sequential work.

This course is aimed at students wishing to pursue careers as creative designers with a comprehensive understanding of commercial, environmental and social issues.

We offer a dynamic approach to the subject, exploring Popular, Classical and Art Musics through Composition, Musicology and Performance. We prepare our graduates for a life where music can be a means of employment and a lifelong source of pleasure and intellectual challenge. The Music course at Oxford Brookes offers flexible and imaginative ways of studying music within the modular framework. It was described in a recent report by its external examiner as "one of the more interesting courses among both the old and the new universities".

The programme connects creative endeavour with the technology inspired aspects of music production. You will be able to immerse yourself in the studio environment to compose, record and produce music. You will learn professional production techniques in live and studio environments. You will also study the place and definition of popular music in current and recent society, and develop an understanding of the legal, professional and ethical issues surrounding the creative industries. A central core of music studio production modules runs through the course. These will support you in developing innovative creative musical work for performance, theatre, film, television, computer games and mobile apps.

Film Studies

We offer either single honours Film Studies BA, or a joint honours degree combined with a wide range of subjects, including Japanese, Business, English, Drama and Communication and Media Studies. Our courses will open your eyes to the endless technological and creative possibilities of this exciting visual medium.

The Film Studies BA offers an innovative and diverse programme, which teaches you to think about classical and contemporary film in its historical, theoretical, and cultural contexts. It introduces you to the craft and the business of filmmaking and will enable you to develop the skills required for a whole range of career possibilities.

BSc (Hons)

This course addresses the need for ever more highly skilled graduates who are grounded in the technical realities of creative media, industrial partnerships and project-based collaborations which demand an increasingly fluid and mobile workforce.

You will not only enhance your employability by developing the ability to use industry standard tools for digital video production and computer animation, but also develop critical awareness of novel methods and techniques used in the creation of contemporary video, audio, graphics, motion capture and animation and develop entrepreneurial flair and leadership skills.
